The COVID-19 pandemic feels very much like war. Most of us have never experienced the trauma of war.
In addition to fighting the COVID virus, we find family members pitted against family members, friend against friend, the employer against an employee. Government mandates seem to be fuelling the flame.
Most of us have never experienced the trauma of war. But the COVID-19 pandemic feels very much like war. In addition to fighting the virus, we find family members pitted against a family member, friend against friend, employer against employee, with government mandates fuelling the flame.
In this environment, we are all at a heightened level of stress, no matter what health choices we make.
The first place to start to end this divisiveness is with resolving our own anger and fear, and that doesn’t happen by “just getting over it”. The hurt goes deep.
As we deal with people every day these are some of the common questions or fears that arise.
- Massive confusion, great difficulty making decisions
- Rejection, criticism from family and friends for your choices
- Doubt – which “science” is real?
- Panic – from both the masked and those choosing not to wear one
- Don’t know what to say – anger, fear, afraid to be “normal” –
- Dating, relationships, lack of social interaction
- Children – what’s best for them? As a parent, guardian, teacher, caregiver what do we do?
- Work environment – rules changing so rapidly, open? closed? Distancing?
- Working from home has positives and negatives
- Neighbours – divided by choice, not by fences
- Shopping – supply chain shortages, which products are safe, prices on the rise
How do you navigate through this uncertain time?
- Talk it through with someone who understands
- Problem solves
- Look at all the perspectives
Let’s see if we can work together to help you with your struggles.
